Sizing Tips 101

'What if the gown I Love is to big?'

Buying off the Rack is a great way to save money BUT don't let those savings disappear in your alterations. One of the most common issues we find is when a Bride falls in love with a dress that is at, or more, then 2 sizes to big. (generally size to size is 1.5 inch difference in each of the three main measurements)

Ideally you don't want to have to alter a gown more then 2 sizes. The reason for this is that some of the structural points, like boning for example, will not line up as intended. While we have seen gowns altered up to 3 and even 4 sizes just know that with that comes a lot more of an investment to get it exactly the way you want it! It also means you want to ensure you find a Master tailor to be able to navigate any modifications and structural work that might be required. Also remember not every tailor will approach it in the same way so if there is an opportunity to get more then one consultation it might just be worth the extra time before you chose! Please see video below for more in depth information 😊
